How we score

Each stroke answer maps to a level on the USTA self-rating table. We take the median of your six skill answers, then follow USTA guidance to rate toward your strongest skill: your estimate never sits more than half a point below your best area. Experience and match-play answers nudge the score by up to a quarter point each, the result is rounded to the nearest 0.5, and everything stays between 1.0 and 5.5.

Self-ratings are typically off by half a point or more, which is why the result is an estimate. A coach reviewing video of your actual play is the reliable way to pin it down.
